On Friday, June 20, 2025, a collision occurred between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 2800 block of Hancock Drive. Officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to the incident at 7:45 a.m. The pedestrian involved was identified as Claudia Gale Porter, born on February 17, 1953. She was taken to a local hospital but was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. According to initial reports, there were no signs of impairment.

This case marks Austin’s 46th fatal crash of the year, resulting in a total of 50 fatalities. Comparatively, by this date in 2024, there had been 34 fatal crashes with 35 deaths.

The investigation into this accident is ongoing and details may be updated as more information becomes available.
