Pease Park Conservancy announced on May 8 that the Pease Park playground is a finalist for Best Playground in the Kid’s and Family Category of the Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin 2026 Reader’s poll.

The nomination highlights Pease Park’s ongoing role as a community gathering space and underscores its importance to families in Austin. The public can vote for their favorite nominees, including the Pease Park playground, at vote.austinchronicle.com from May 7 through May 18.

“We’re so honored and grateful to be nominated again and encourage you to cast your vote for the Pease Park playground alongside your favorite Austin nominees,” said representatives from Pease Park Conservancy.

Pease Park Conservancy secures private funding to support park maintenance, improvements, and programming beyond what city resources provide. The organization also promotes inclusivity by keeping the park accessible and welcoming to all visitors while fostering community engagement through various initiatives. In addition, it manages public parkland featuring trails and gathering spaces along Shoal Creek. The conservancy serves as the official partner with the City of Austin for ongoing care and enhancement of Pease Park, overseeing 84 acres of public parkland along Shoal Creek in central Austin. Its mission is to restore, protect, and maintain Pease Park as a dynamic natural and cultural asset for the public, according to the official website.

The recognition by local readers reflects continued appreciation for parks that serve diverse needs within urban communities. Voting results will be announced following completion of this year’s Reader’s poll.
