Nature is a central feature at Pease Park, where visitors can find signs throughout the park offering reminders and scientific insights into how time spent outdoors supports wellbeing. The Pease Park Conservancy continues to promote wellness and community engagement by organizing events and maintaining the park for public use.

In early March, Pease Park Conservancy will host two community events aimed at encouraging physical activity and connection among visitors. On Sunday, March 1, Black Swan Yoga will present “Yoga for Pease,” a wellness event benefiting the conservancy. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a suggested donation of $15 per person. According to organizers: “Join this community-centered wellness event, inspired by the spirit of Austin’s former Whole Lotta Yoga, with a renewed focus on accessibility, collaboration, and giving back to this cherished public green space.” Attendees can participate in yoga and sound healing classes throughout the day and visit vendor booths.

A week later, on Sunday, March 8 at 9 a.m., the Pat Lochridge Classic “War in Pease” basketball tournament will take place. This single-elimination 3v3 tournament features up to 20 teams competing for prizes including best team name and best spirit. Entry costs $60 per team (with three to five members), while entry into the free throw competition is $10 per person. All players must be at least 15 years old.

Pease Park Conservancy recently thanked its volunteers following its annual MLK Day of Service Donation Drive. Community members donated over one thousand pounds of food to Micah 6 Food Pantry and nearly four hundred pounds of diapers, wipes, and period products to Austin Diaper Bank.

The conservancy encourages those who value their experiences in the park to consider supporting its work: “If your experiences in the park bring you calm or connection, consider making a gift to support Pease Park Conservancy. We care for this restorative, accessible park for all who seek healing outdoors.”

Pease Park Conservancy operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Pease Park as an accessible public space along Shoal Creek in central Austin. The organization secures private funding for maintenance and programming beyond what city resources provide (https://peasepark.org/). As an official partner with the City of Austin (https://peasepark.org/), it manages eighty-four acres of trails and gathering spaces (https://peasepark.org/) while promoting inclusivity through various initiatives that keep the park welcoming for all visitors (https://peasepark.org/). Since its establishment in 2012 (https://peasepark.org/), it has offered programs such as volunteer opportunities and educational activities aimed at fostering stewardship within the community (https://peasepark.org/).
