The Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Oakwood Cemetery has launched a new online exhibit titled “Unificar, to Unite.” This exhibit delves into the history and current efforts of Tejano organizations, highlighting their achievements and ongoing advocacy for social change in Texas.
The exhibit features stories from multiple generations of Tejano social justice leaders, available in both English and Spanish.

Additionally, the Oakwood Cemetery Chapel will host a celebratory workshop named “Unificando Hoy (Uniting Today)” on Saturday, July 27, 2024. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1601 Navasota St.
Tejano community organizers from various Texas-based organizations will lead sessions on community organization strategies, advocacy discussions, and insights into working behind the scenes of social and political movements.
Attendance is free of charge, with complimentary parking available at the cemetery.
