A new office building project in East Austin called 1515 Cesar Chavez is being built about four blocks from Plaza Saltillo Station, according to The Statesman.

It will feature a “contemporary design” and underground parking, The Statesman reported.

Additional features include private terraces, a three-story green wall, showers, bike storage, light-filled rooms, butt-glazed curtain wall with floor-to-ceiling glass, a custom wood storefront, and modern gray brick with cedar siding and board-formed concrete, according to details on the 1515 Cesar Chavez website

The office space should be ready to be occupied by August 2022, the website said.

Brent Powdrill of JLL, the commercial real estate services firm handling leasing for the building, said that creative technology professionals are expected to be the future tenants of the building, as well as marketing companies and professional service firms, according to The Statesman.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Austin has continued to grow as a hotspot for commercial real estate investment, and more and more office spaces continue to be built, according to Loopnet

Some other new office spaces currently underway in East Austin include Eastlake at Tillery, 172,000 square feet, on E. Cesar Chavez; Foundry II, 161,436 square feet, on E. 4th St.; and Eastbound, 233,577 square feet, on E. Cesar Chavez, according to Aquila Commercial.
