“Witness,” a multimedia performance and album created by photojournalist and musician Tamir Kalifa, invites audiences to experience personal stories behind news events. The event, held at the Rollins Studio Theatre, features live projections and music. Kalifa combines his original songs with his photographs to share narratives centered on migration, survival, loss, and hope. The performance marks both the release of the “Witness” album and the debut of the full project as an immersive blend of concert and photographic storytelling.

Tamir Kalifa is an independent photographer and musician who divides his time between Austin, Texas, and Berlin, Germany. He focuses on documenting individuals and communities facing significant social, political, and environmental issues. His work has appeared in outlets such as The New York Times, Texas Monthly, and NPR. Kalifa received recognition from the Chris Hondros Fund and the American Mosaic Journalism Prize for his documentation of families in Uvalde, Texas after the Robb Elementary School shooting. In addition to his photography work, he has written, recorded, and performed music as part of Mother Falcon, an orchestral indie-rock group based in Austin since 2009.
