Motorcycle accident claims life of Joseph E. Carrington in Austin

On May 25, 2025, the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a motorcycle accident on FM 969 Road. Officers found the driver, Joseph E. Carrington, at the scene. Despite efforts by Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), Mr. Carrington was declared dead at 10:14 p.m.

The incident marks Austin’s 36th fatal crash of the year, with a total of 40 fatalities so far in 2025. In comparison, on the same date in 2024, there were 31 fatal crashes resulting in 32 deaths.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing. Initial assessments have been made, but details may change as more information becomes available. The APD encourages anyone with information about the incident to contact their Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.
