Beatrix Lozach, a senior at McCallum High School, will attend Yale University on a QuestBridge scholarship, according to a May 14 announcement from Austin Independent School District.

Lozach’s achievement is highlighted as an example of how Austin ISD programs help students find their voice and build confidence for life after graduation. The district supports a multicultural environment with over 100 languages spoken by students and operates 116 diverse school communities including elementary, middle, high, early college, academy, magnet, alternative and community schools, according to the official website.

Through her involvement in journalism at McCallum High School, Lozach learned skills such as asking questions and sharing important stories. These experiences strengthened her interest in advocacy and public service. She was also active in the school’s fine arts community where she developed creativity and confidence.

The district maintains a graduation rate of 93.3 percent and exceeds state averages on SAT and ACT scores. It educates more than 72,000 students with the support of over 5,000 classroom teachers across its various campuses. Austin ISD provides instruction in more than 100 languages and offers programs in eleven languages other than English while focusing on partnering with families to equip students for success beyond high school, according to the official website.

At Yale University, Lozach plans to study philosophy. After completing her degree she hopes to become a lawyer “using her education and voice to help others.”
