Manor New Tech High School students earned their first University Interscholastic League (UIL) state championship on March 28, as the MNTHS Digital Animation Team, led by sophomore Urduja Raygon, took first place in Division 4A Filmmaking for their film “Daisy and Matilda.”
The achievement is significant for both the school and the wider Manor Independent School District community. The team’s victory highlights the dedication and skill of student filmmakers competing against peers from across Texas.
Raygon and her team spent many hours writing, filming, editing, and refining their project to meet the competition’s strict guidelines and deadlines. The experience gave them practical exposure to filmmaking under real-world conditions. Even after winning the state title, Raygon said that she and her teammates are already planning for next year’s competition.
The accomplishment was recognized at a recent Manor ISD Board of Trustees meeting where trustees celebrated what they described as a historic win that brought pride to both campus and district.
