Several Manor New Tech High School student-athletes have been recognized with top statewide honors in Texas, according to a May 22 announcement from Manor Independent School District. The awards highlight achievements in athletics, academics, and leadership among the school’s seniors.
The recognition is significant as it demonstrates the ability of students to excel both on the field and in the classroom. These honors are considered some of the most competitive available to high school athletes in Texas.
Senior Isaiah Kinard was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-State Team for boys basketball. Seniors Lili Camarena and Max Hughes received Academic All-State honors from the Texas High School Coaches Association for their combined success in sports and academics. Cheerleaders Darlynn Cardenas and Bailey Rae Williams were also honored at the state level by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
“These recognitions reflect the hard work, dedication, and commitment our students show every single day,” said Manor New Tech High School Principal Bobby Garcia. “To compete at a high level in Texas athletics while also excelling academically takes an incredible amount of discipline, and we are proud to celebrate these students and all they have accomplished.”
The selection process for these awards is highly competitive across Texas, with criteria including athletic performance as well as academic achievements such as grade point average, class rank, and standardized test scores. Only senior student-athletes are eligible for nomination.
Manor Independent School District supports its students through annual college-level athletic signing opportunities, encourages community involvement via student-led initiatives focused on positive contributions, operates eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one PreK-8 campus, three high schools and one alternative learning campus; has been recognized as a District of Distinction in visual arts by the Texas Art Education Association; serves more than 10,000 students across 15 campuses; and focuses on providing equitable education that supports each scholar’s full development—all according to the official website.
