Manor Independent School District voters have rejected a $385 million bond proposal that appeared on the November ballot. The measure was intended to fund projects such as campus safety improvements, facility upgrades, bus replacements, and expanded technology access for students and staff. Despite the outcome, the district confirmed that the tax rate will remain unchanged.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani addressed the results, stating: “We’ll go back, listen to feedback, and adjust our bond program as needed to present to our trustees for a potential future bond election.” He emphasized that while officials would prefer to wait before another election, the needs identified in the proposal are still pressing. “The needs that were in this bond package don’t change,” Sormani said. “We encourage our community to stay connected with us as we work to hear from them and go through the process again in the future.”

With the failure of Bond 2025, none of the proposed projects will proceed at this time. However, needs such as security improvements and repairs remain. The district may need to use its general fund for essential maintenance or instructional improvements, which could require reallocating resources from other areas.

Without new funding from a bond, planned upgrades for older campuses and transportation systems will likely be delayed. This could also result in higher long-term costs due to deferred maintenance.

Looking ahead, Manor ISD plans to survey community members for feedback and consider another bond election as early as May 2026. Officials intend to reconvene their facilities committee to review priorities based on community input before presenting any new proposals to the Board of Trustees.

Community engagement will continue throughout this process with meetings and surveys designed to ensure future proposals align with local expectations.

“Even though this bond did not pass, the work continues,” Dr. Sormani said. “Our scholars and staff deserve safe, modern, and well-equipped schools, and we’ll keep moving forward toward that goal.”
