Manor Independent School District announced on May 13 that 83 of its seniors will graduate this spring with associate degrees from Austin Community College, in addition to their high school diplomas. This marks the highest number of students earning associate degrees at a single high school in Central Texas.

The accomplishment highlights the district’s Early College Program, which allows students to take college courses alongside their regular coursework and earn up to two years of college credit at no cost to families. The program aims to provide a head start for students as they prepare for higher education or enter the workforce.

For many participants, this achievement represents significant dedication and perseverance as they managed both high school and college-level classes simultaneously. Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani said, “This achievement is incredible, not just because of the number, but because of what it represents for our students and families. These students are proving what is possible when schools create opportunities and students rise to meet them. They are graduating with a tremendous head start on their futures, and our entire community should be proud.”

Students who earn an associate degree through the program may enter four-year universities as juniors or begin careers with a completed college credential. For many families, it also means saving thousands of dollars in future tuition costs.

The Early College Program is one example of how Manor Independent School District supports student success across its campuses by providing opportunities such as athletics signing events and encouraging community involvement through student-led initiatives focused on positive contributions, according to the official website. The district operates eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one PreK-8 campus, three high schools and one alternative learning campus; serves more than 10,000 students across 15 campuses; has been recognized as a District of Distinction in visual arts by the Texas Art Education Association; and focuses on providing equitable education supporting each scholar’s development according to the official website.

Families interested in enrolling or transferring into Manor High School’s Early College Program can find more information on Manor ISD’s Enrollment Website.
