Three student-athletes from Manor Independent School District participated in the University Interscholastic League State Track and Field Meet, following their qualification through regional competitions earlier this season, according to a May 22 announcement.
The event is significant as it places Manor ISD students among top high school track and field competitors in Texas. Their participation highlights both athletic achievement and the district’s commitment to supporting extracurricular excellence.
Legend Williams of Manor New Tech High School competed in the boys’ 800-meter run. Maliya Curry represented the district in both the girls’ 100-meter and 200-meter dash events. Sanavia Aldridge from Manor High School took part in the girls’ hurdles, marking a strong conclusion to her season on the track.
Manor Independent School District supports students pursuing college-level athletics with annual signing opportunities, encourages community involvement through student-led initiatives, operates eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one PreK-8 campus, three high schools and one alternative learning campus, has received recognition as a District of Distinction in visual arts from the Texas Art Education Association, serves more than 10,000 students across 15 campuses, and focuses on providing equitable education for each scholar according to the official website.
The participation of these athletes at a statewide level demonstrates both individual dedication and broader support structures within Manor ISD. Looking ahead, continued involvement at such competitive events may further enhance opportunities for students across academics and athletics.
