Manor Independent School District has appointed Dinorah De La Torre as the new Director of Multilingual Services. In her new role, De La Torre will oversee all bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) services throughout the district. She will collaborate with campuses from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade to ensure that emergent bilingual students and multilingual families receive comprehensive support.

De La Torre’s responsibilities include strengthening bilingual and dual-language programs, providing teachers with professional development opportunities and instructional resources, and engaging families to keep them informed and connected with their schools. Her focus will be on fostering an environment where students feel they belong while receiving rigorous instruction.

With more than ten years of experience in bilingual education and school leadership, De La Torre previously served as principal at Dorinda J. Pillow Elementary School in Austin ISD. There, she worked on enhancing teacher skills, aligning instruction, and building strong relationships with families and the community. Her career also includes roles as assistant principal, instructional specialist, instructional coach, and bilingual classroom teacher.

“I am incredibly excited and honored to join Manor ISD in this role,” De La Torre said. “This community values students, families, and culture, and I’m passionate about ensuring our multilingual learners feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. I look forward to partnering with our campuses and families to continue building programs that truly serve our community.”

De La Torre earned her bachelor’s degree in bilingual education from The University of Texas at Austin. She is certified as an EC–12 principal as well as a bilingual educator.
