Love-A-Bull and Yard Bar are teaming up to present Love-A-Bull’s third annual Howl-O-Ween event on Oct. 28 at Yard Bar on Burnett in Austin. The event, which will take place from 1 to 3 p.m., promises to be a spooky and fun-filled celebration in honor of Pit Bull Awareness Month.

According to a Facebook post by Yard Bar, the Howl-O-Ween event will be held at Camp Out, located on the same property as Yard Bar. Attendees can look forward to a “paw-sitively awesome” celebration where their furry friends can show off their costumes in style.

The highlight of the event will be the highly anticipated Costume Contest, starting at 2 p.m. on the Camp Out patio. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join in and compete in various creative categories, including Best Group Costume, Best Owner/Handler Look-A-Like, Best DIY Costume, and Best Pittie Costume.

Prizes for the contest include dog toys, whiskey kits, leashes, and even a “special” cat present for feline enthusiasts. To enter the contest, a $10 donation is required, and all proceeds will directly support Love-A-Bull’s mission of improving the lives of pit bull-type dogs through community support, education, advocacy, and rescue.

In addition to the Costume Contest, Love-A-Bull will also be hosting a “pickup party” for their Silent Auction at the event. The silent auction fundraiser, which runs from Oct. 19 to 26, features a wide range of local and nationwide prizes. Winners of the auction must collect their prizes in person at Yard Bar during the event hours.

While the Howl-O-Ween event is Halloween-themed, it also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness for Pit Bull Awareness Month. The event aims to promote responsible pet ownership and challenge the stigma surrounding pit bull-type dogs.
