Austin Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with the Austin Parks Foundation, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Little Walnut Creek Greenbelt on November 1. The event will take place at 5401 Springdale Rd. at 9 a.m. and is open to the public free of charge. Attendees are advised to wear comfortable clothing suitable for an outdoor setting.

The Little Walnut Creek Greenbelt spans 206 acres in East Austin’s District 1 and features enhanced trails, fitness equipment, a climbing boulder, a dog off-leash area, and a community-inspired play area. These improvements aim to provide safer access and more opportunities for outdoor activities and nature engagement.

The project was realized through a partnership between Austin Parks and Recreation and the Austin Parks Foundation, with additional support from the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Recreational Trails Program, Shield Ayres Foundation, and Alice Kleberg Reynolds Foundation.

For further details about the project, interested individuals can visit the Little Walnut Creek Greenbelt project page online.
