Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Aaron Kinsey, a resident of Midland, as the new chair of the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE). The Office of the Texas Governor announced that Kinsey will serve as the head of the SBOE until December 17, 2025, succeeding Dr. Keven Ellis.
The announcement also highlighted that Kinsey is currently representing SBOE District 15 and holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at American Patrols, Inc., a company specializing in aviation oilfield services. During his nearly ten-year tenure in the Air Force, Kinsey flew 120 combat missions and served as an instructor, according to information from the governor’s office.
According to his biography on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) website, Kinsey is a first-generation college graduate in his family. He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas A&M University (TAMU). Additionally, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. In collaboration with TEA, he serves on the SBOE’s School Finance/Permanent School Fund (SF/PSF) Committee and chairs the Committee on Strategic Planning and Policy of the Texas PSF Corporation.
Kinsey’s biography further reveals that he is married with three children and resides in West Texas.
