Six-time Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell has released a new solo album, marking a shift from his recent work with the 400 Unit. Known for his ability to express deep human emotions through his songwriting, Isbell’s latest project highlights his skills as both a musician and lyricist.
Isbell, originally from North Alabama, is recognized for addressing everyday experiences in his music. His previous accomplishments include multiple critically acclaimed albums and an appearance in the Academy Award-nominated film “Killers of the Flower Moon.” He spent much of the past year touring internationally with his band.
At the start of 2025, Isbell decided to take a different approach by recording a solo album titled “Foxes in the Snow.” The record features only Isbell’s vocals and acoustic guitar—a 1940 Martin 0-17—and was produced at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. Stereogum commented on the release: “the barebones intimacy recenters the artist behind the persona and serves as a reminder that this guy can write a damn song.”
