“Who is Lady Chatterley?”

By uttering that question in the final moments of the semifinals of Jeopardy’s national college championship a few days ago, University of Texas senior finance and economics major Jaskaran Singh secured the opportunity to compete for the ultimate prize.

Longhorns and Austinites can catch Singh in the finals of the “Jeopardy! National College Championship” tonight (Feb. 22) at 7:30 p.m. on Austin ABC affiliate KVUE.

The answer to Singh’s semifinals clinching question was: “Introduced in 1928, this character has a disappointing affair with a writer before she begins a more satisfying relationship,” KVUE reported.

In addition to advancing to the finals, Singh took home $24,000. His upcoming competition will be Liz Feltner of Northeastern University and Raymond Goslow of Kennesaw State.

The 22-year-old Singh, who hails from Plano, first applied to be a contestant on the popular program made famous by the late Alex Trebek when he was in middle school but didn’t make the cut, KVUE reported.

According to Singh, he fell in love with trivia in high school as a member of the national championship winning quiz team. He’s a member of the UT Quiz Team, which has a nationals berth it hopes to capitalize on this spring.

“I’m a normal guy, but I like to read the news to keep up with what’s going on, and I especially like learning about history,” Singh told KVUE.

Singh looks to finish his computer science class for his minor in Russian. He’s also enrolled in a number of history classes.
