Homicide investigation underway after fatal shooting on Little Texas Lane

On May 29, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shooting incident at 401 Little Texas Ln. Upon arrival, officers located a Hispanic male with apparent gunshot wounds, later identified as Olvin Ponce-Aguilera, born January 17, 1984.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on the scene and attempted medical assistance; however, Mr. Ponce was pronounced deceased at 9:50 p.m.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists were dispatched to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation revealed that Mr. Ponce had been shot by a known suspect who subsequently fled the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.

This case is being investigated as Austin’s 24th homicide of 2024.
