On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to multiple shots fired calls at The Quincy apartments located at 91 Red River Street.

According to the APD, they located a male subject with gunshot wounds at the scene. The victim was later identified as Alan Picazzo, a Hispanic male born on May 12, 1999. Emergency services rushed Picazzo to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. The investigation revealed that Picazzo had been involved in a disturbance with another individual before the situation escalated into a fatal shooting.

In a plea for assistance, the APD urged the public, stating, “Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS.” They further added that individuals could provide anonymous tips through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program, either online or by calling 512-472-8477. A potential reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.

The APD confirmed that this tragic incident is currently under investigation as Austin’s 17th homicide of 2024.”
