The band’s history traces back to 1994 when Pollard and his group recorded “Bee Thousand” in a Dayton, Ohio basement using a 4-track cassette recorder. This album gained recognition as a significant piece of rock music history.

Additionally, Amazon has ranked it number one on their list of the 100 Greatest Indie Rock Albums Of All Time. Guided By Voices is known for its energetic live performances and dedicated fan base.
