Call to Order

Chair Pool called the committee meeting to order at 1:35 p.m.

Approval of Minutes

1. Approve the minutes of the October 19, 2022 regular meeting of the Austin Water Oversight Committee.

The minutes of the October 19, 2022 Austin Water Oversight Committee meeting were approved on Vice Chair Ryan Alter’s motion, and Council Member Alison Alter’s second, on a 3-0 vote, with Council Member Velasquez off the dais.

Discussion

2. Discussion of the 2022 Austin Water External Review. This item was taken up jointly with the Audit and Finance Committee.

Austin Water Director Shay Ralls Roalson briefed the Committee on Austin Water’s progress in implementing the 2022 Austin Water External Review recommendations and answered questions from Committee members. Austin Water Assistant Director of Business Services Anna Bryan-Borja, Austin Water Operations Manager Stephanie Sue, Interim Assistant City Manager Robert Goode, and Interim City Manager Jesus Garza also responded to questions from Committee members.

3. Identify items to discuss at future meetings

• Update on implementation of Water Forward

• Wildfire preparations – hardening operations

• Addressing microplastics in our water

• Power reliability program update

Chair Pool adjourned the meeting at 2:40p.m. without objection
