City of Austin Public Safety Committee met Feb. 8.

The PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE convened in a hybrid format meeting at 301 W. 2nd Street in Austin, Texas.

Committee Vice Chair Kelly called the committee meeting to order at 3:11 p.m.

Committee Members in Attendance:

Committee Chair Harper-Madison, Committee Member Ellis and Committee Member Vela were in attendance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

1. Approve the minutes of the November 22, 2021 Special Called meeting of the Public Safety Committee.

The motion approving the minutes of the November 22, 2021 Special Called meeting of the Public Safety Committee was passed on Vice Chair Kelly’s motion, seconded by Council Member Ellis, without objection, with a 3-0 vote, with Chair Harper-Madison off the dais.

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION

2. Discuss and recommend judicial appointments to the City of Austin Municipal Court.

The motion approving the recommendation to City Council of the judicial appointment of Judge Kelly Evans as a Substitute Judge for the Austin Municipal Court for the judicial term beginning January 1, 2022 was passed on Vice Chair Kelly’s motion, seconded by Council Member Vela, without objection, with a 3-0 vote, with Chair Harper-Madison off the dais.

3. Discussion and possible action on process and timeline for the appointment of Austin Municipal Court Substitute Judges.
