Call to Order

Chair Tovo called the committee meeting to order at 9:33 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

1. Approve the minutes of the Public Health Committee meeting on June 8, 2022.

The minutes of the June 8, 2022, Public Health Committee meeting were approved on Council Member Fuentes’ motion, and Council Member Kitchen’s second, on a 3-0 vote, with Mayor Steve Adler absent, and Council Member Harper-Madison off the dais.

Discussion and Possible Action

2. Discussion and possible action regarding the reappointment of members Selena Alvarenga and Jessica Palvino to the Sobering Center Local Government Corporation Board of Directors.

On Council Member Kitchens’ motion and Council Member Tovo’s second, the

Committee approved the reappointment of members Selena Alvarenga and Jessica Palvino to the Sobering Center Local Government Corporation Board of Directors on a 3-0 vote with Mayor Steve Adler and Council Member Harper-Madison off the dais.

Briefings

3. Briefing and discussion on issues related to homelessness

The Committee received a briefing on homelessness strategies from Dianna Grey, Homeless Strategy Officer.

The Committee received a briefing on the Aging and Unhoused Final report of June 2022 from Amy Timperley, Founder, Aging is Cool.

Future Items

1. Identify items to discuss at future meetings.

Items related to sobering and recovery for high schoolers.
