Call to Order

Mayor Pro Tem Fuentes called the committee meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Public Communication: General

Approval of Minutes

1. Approve the minutes of the Public Health Committee meeting of August 6, 2025.

The minutes of the August 6 meetings were approved on Council Member Duchen’s motion, and Council Member Alter’s second with no objection, on a 4-0 vote.

Discussion and Possible Action

2. Discussion and possible action regarding the appointment of a member to the Sobering Center Local Government Corporation Board of Directors.

Briefings

3. Briefing on homelessness services for older adults from Family Eldercare.

The Committee received a briefing from Aaron Alarcon, CEO of Family Elder Care Inc.

4. Briefing on the status of Austin Public Health Federal Grants.

The Committee received a briefing from Adrienne Sturrup, Director of Austin Public Health.

Executive Session

5. Discussion of the selection of a member to appoint to the Sobering Center Board of Directors. (Personnel matters – Section 551.074 of the Government Code).

1. Identify items to discuss at future meetings.
