Chair Vanessa Fuentes called the Public Health Committee meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

1. Approve the Public Health Committee minutes for February 7, 2024 meeting.

On the motion by Council Member Zohaib Qadri and second by Council Member José Velásquez, the minutes for the March 20, 2024 meeting of the Public Health Committee were approved on a vote 4-0.

Briefings

2. Receive a briefing on immigration services provided by American Gateway.

Received a briefing on immigration services from Rebecca Lightsey and Edna Yang Co Executive Directors and heard testimony from their client Ana Carvalho.

3. Receive a briefing on the Travic County Diversion Center Pilot.

Received a briefing on the Travis Conunty Diversion Center pilot from Staff Robert Kingham, Municipal Court, Judge Andy Brown , Commissioner Ann Howard (virtually), Courtney Lucas, Planning Project Manager – Health and Human Services, Laura Peveto, Division Director – Health and Human Services, Dawn Handley, M.Ed., LPC Chief Operations Officer – Integral Care, Marisa Malik, LPC – Director of Crisis Services and Justice Initiatives – Integral Care, Monica Crowley VP Chief Strategy and Planning Officer & Sr. Counsel – Central Health, Jonathan Morgan Chief Operating Officer – Central Health, Alan Schalscha, MD Chief Medical Officer – Central Health

Received a briefing on on social impact on non-profit organizations from Suzanne Anderson from Age Of Central Texas, Christopher Hamilton with Texas Health Action, Dan Leal with the Seedling Mentors and Javier Valdez with Naomi Central Texas.
