As the City of Austin prepares for its fiscal year 2025 budget, it has extended an invitation to residents to play a role in shaping their community’s future. The city has launched an interactive Budget Survey Tool, which is accessible in multiple languages, as part of its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

The Budget Survey Tool allows residents to engage directly in the budget allocation process. Participants can select their top three priority initiatives from a comprehensive list of options. The goal of this tool is to provide residents with a meaningful opportunity to interact with the city and ensure that the budget accurately reflects the diverse needs and preferences of the community.

Austin City Manager T.C. Broadnax emphasized the importance of resident input, stating, “Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and their input is invaluable in shaping the priorities of our city.” He encouraged all residents to share their perspectives and contribute towards shaping Austin’s future.

The survey covers a broad spectrum of issues ranging from infrastructure improvements to housing and public safety. The feedback obtained from this survey will be used by City staff as they work on developing a proposed balanced budget that mirrors the needs and priorities of the community.

Ed Van Eenoo, Chief Financial Officer, reiterated Austin’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its budgeting process. He said, “By engaging residents through this survey, we can ensure that our budget reflects the values and priorities of the people we serve.”

The Budget Survey Tool will be accessible throughout May in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese Simplified. For those interested in participating or seeking more information on the budget development process, please visit austintexas.gov/budget.
