CALL TO ORDER

The Council Housing and Planning Committee convened in a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 via Videoconference.

Chair Casar called the Committee meeting to order at 3:10 p.m.

Approval of Minutes

1. Approve the minutes of the May 3, 2021 meeting of the Housing and Planning Committee.

The minutes were approved on the 15th day of June 2021 on Council Member Ellis’s motion to approve and Mayor Pro Tem Harper-Madison’s second on a 3-0 vote (Council Members Renteria and Kitchen were absent from the dais).

Briefing

2. Briefing on Relief of Emergency Needs for Tenants (RENT) program and eviction prevention measures.

Nefertitti Jackmon, Displacement Prevention Manager, Housing and Planning Department, provided a presentation on Relief of Emergency Needs for Tenants (RENT) program and eviction prevention measures and answered questions from Council Members.

3. Briefing on the impact of the Rental Housing Development Assistance (RHDA) and Ownership Housing Development Assistance (OHDA) Programs on housing production.

James May, Community Development Manager, Housing and Planning Department, provided a presentation on the impact of the Rental Housing Development Assistance and Ownership Housing Development Assistance programs on housing production and answered questions from Council Members.

4. Briefing on Austin housing market and affordability.

Jeni Williams, Deputy Director of Government Affairs, Austin Board of Realtors, and Emily Chenevert, Chief Executive Officer, Austin Board of Realtors, provided a presentation on the Austin housing market and affordability and answered questions from Council Members.
