Call to Order

Council Member Alison Alter called the committee meeting to order at 9:31 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

1. Approve the minutes of the Audit and Finance Committee meeting of August 23, 2023.

The minutes of the August 23, 2023 Audit and Finance Committee meeting were approved on Council Member Kelly’s motion, and Council Member Ryan’s second, on a 5-0 vote.

Discussion and Possible Action

2. Discussion and possible action regarding proposed amendments to City Code Chapter

4-8, Section 4-8-8 (Appearance).

The Committee received a briefing from Corrie Stokes, Office of the City Auditor. The proposed amendments to the City Code Chapter 4-8, Section 4-8-8 (Appearance) were approved on Council Member Pool’s motion and Council Member Kelly’s second to recommend to full Council, with no objection.

3. Animal Services Audit.

The Committee received a briefing from Keith Salas, Office of the City Auditor; Don Bland, Animal Services Office; and Jesús Garza and Stephanie Hayden-Howard, City Manager’s Office.

4. Austin Energy Vegetation Management Audit.

The Committee received a briefing from Kathie Harrison, Office of the City Auditor; and Bob Kahn and Elton Richards, Austin Energy.

5. Northeast Service Center Project.

The Committee received a briefing from Kim Olivares, Financial Services Department.

6. Austin Transit Partnership budget update.

The Committee received a briefing from Bryan Rivera and Deron Lozano, Austin Transit Partnership.

Future Items

7. Identify items to discuss at future meetings.

Briefings on the City’s Disaster Preparedness, Integrity Unit Update, Status of Prior Audit Recommendations, City’s Strategic Planning Process may be presented.
