City of Austin Audit and Finance Committee met May 25.

THE AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL AUDIT AND FINANCE COMMITTEE CONVENED IN A REGULAR MEETING AT 9:30 AM, AUSTIN CITY HALL, 301 W. 2nd STREET, AUSTIN, TEXAS (This meeting also included attendees by video conference from remote locations).

Mayor Pro Tem Alter called the meeting to order at 9:32 AM. In attendance were Council Member Kelly, Council Member Fuentes, Council Member Pool. Council Member Tovo was off the dais.

Citizen Communication: Speakers signed up prior to the meeting being called to order will each be allowed three minutes to address their concerns regarding items not posted on the agenda.

Agenda Item #1: Approve the minutes of the Audit and Finance Committee meeting of April 27, 2022.

The minutes of April 27, 2022, AFC meeting were approved on Council Member Kelly’s motion, Council Member Fuentes’ second, on a 4-0 vote with Council Member Tovo off the dais.

Agenda Item #2: Update on implementation of recommendations from the Online Access to City Services and AustinGO: Website Governance and Management audits.

Kathie Harrison, Office of the City Auditor, presented an update on implementation of recommendations from the Online Access to City Services and AustinGO: Website Governance and Management audits; Chris Stewart, and Divya Rathanlal, Communications and Technology Management, Yasmin Wagner, Communications and Public Information Office, spoke and answered questions from the committee. No action was taken.

Agenda Item #3: Update on implementation of recommendations from the Consistency of Austin Code Investigations and Resolutions Audit (April 2016) and Performance Audit of the Code Compliance Function (March 2010).

Francis Riley, Office of the City Auditor, presented an update on implementation of recommendations from the Consistency of Austin Code Investigations and Resolutions Audit (April 2016) and Performance Audit of the Code Compliance Function (March 2010), Elaine Garrett, Austin Code, spoke and answered questions from the committee. No action was taken.

Agenda Item #4 Update on the Cultural Arts Funding Program Guidelines.

Meghan Wells, Economic Development Department, presented an update on the Cultural Arts Funding Program Guidelines. Sylnovia Holt-Rabb and Laura Odegaard, Economic Development Department, spoke and answered questions from the committee. No action was taken.

Agenda Item #5: Discussion and possible action regarding Audit and Finance Committee meeting dates for 2022.

Sponsors: Mayor Pro Tem Alison Alter, and Council Member Leslie Pool

Corrie Stokes, Office of the City Auditor, discussed possible dates for the December 2022 Audit and Finance Committee meeting. A motion to move the December 2022 Audit and Finance Committee meeting to December 13, 2022 was approved on Council Member Fuentes’ motion, Council Member Kelly’s second, on a 5-0 vote.

Agenda Item #6 Recommendation to Council regarding the status of the Economic Prosperity Commission due to the failure of the Economic Prosperity Commission to convene for a period of over six months.

Stephanie Hall, City Clerk’s Office, presented on recommendation to Council regarding the status of the Economic Prosperity Commission due to the failure of the Economic Prosperity Commission to convene for a period of over six months. Myrna Rios, City Clerk’s Office spoke and answered questions from the Committee. A motion for the Economic Prosperity Commission to continue operating was approved on Council Member Pool’s motion, Council Member Tovo’s second, on a 5-0 vote.

Agenda Item #6 Identify items to be discussed at future meetings

Mayor Pro Tem Alter, and Corrie Stokes, Office of the City Auditor spoke and identified items to be discussed at future meetings.

Adjourn: Mayor Pro Tem Alter adjourned the meeting without objections at 11:02AM.
