Art is the heartbeat of expression, and at Austin ISD, we’re excited to celebrate our incredibly talented students and the powerful impact of art in our schools. In a statement, the Council for Art Education emphasized the importance of championing the power of creativity in education.
The Districtwide Student Exhibition, hosted at the Performing Arts Center until March 30, is showcasing a diverse range of artwork from paintings to sculptures, inviting everyone to come and be inspired by the students’ creativity.
Thanks to the support of sponsors like Reagan Outdoor Advertising and A+ Federal Credit Union, the city of Austin is adorned with billboards featuring artwork from elementary to high school students. This initiative aims to bring art from the classrooms to the public eye, celebrating the talent of young artists across the district.
Highlighting the collaboration between students and educators, standout artists like Ethan H. from McCallum HS, River P. from Bowie HS, and the collaborative artwork by Jessica Garcia and Vanessa Castillo are being recognized for their contributions to the Youth Art Month celebration.
Among the talented students whose work is being featured on billboards are Victoria M. from Mills Elementary School, Ana I. from Burnet Middle School, and Antonio A.G. from Austin High School, showcasing the creativity and skill of young artists at different stages of their academic journey.
In addition to the billboards, students like Alice B., Ilys M.V., Mia W., and Rosie L. are being celebrated for their designs on t-shirts, providing them with a platform to share their talents with the world.
