CapMetro announced on May 20 that it will open two new Park and Ride facilities, Goodnight Ranch and Expo Center, alongside the full launch of Rapid 800 and 837 bus lines on June 7. The expansion aims to improve transportation options for Central Texas residents by providing more accessible connections across the region.

The opening of these facilities is intended to make public transit more convenient for customers who want a reliable way to park once and travel throughout Austin. Both Park and Rides are equipped with electric bus charging stations, upgraded lighting, security features, sidewalks, landscaping improvements, and enhanced amenities. CapMetro said the service change will enable both Rapid lines to operate at a full frequency of every ten minutes during peak hours.

“June’s service launch represents a major step forward in how Central Texas moves,” said Dottie Watkins, CapMetro’s President and CEO. “With our full frequency of Rapid service, along with the opening of these two new Park & Rides, we’re creating a more convenient and sustainable way for people to travel throughout the region.”

The Goodnight Ranch Park & Ride is located in Southeast Austin at the end of Rapid 837 Pleasant Valley line. It offers sixty-four parking spaces, four bus bays with overhead electric charging stations, shelter upgrades including lighting and cameras for security, as well as pedestrian safety improvements. Route realignments will bring Routes 318 and 333 to terminate at this facility.

Expo Center Park & Ride is situated in Northeast Austin at the end of Rapid 800 Expo Center line. This location provides one hundred fifty-nine parking spaces, eight bus bays with electric charging stations overhead, improved shelter lighting/security features, stormwater detention systems onsite along with tree preservation efforts. Routes 18, 233 and 337 will serve this facility after the June Service Change.

Together these additions expand access points within CapMetro’s network while supporting ongoing investment in sustainable transit infrastructure according to the official website. The Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority serves diverse communities in Austin and Central Texas area through high-quality public transportation focused on accessibility according to the official website.
