CapMetro will provide several transportation options this July 4th to encourage the community to attend Independence Day events using their services. Notably, fares will be suspended after 5 p.m. on July 4 for all customers.
The agency will operate a Sunday-level bus service during the holiday, with detours in Downtown Austin and around Lady Bird Lake. Several bus routes will take passengers to Auditorium Shores for the fireworks display. After the event, customers can catch buses at Lavaca and 4th Streets to travel north of the river or use multiple stops for southbound destinations.
For those attending Willie Nelson’s concert at Q2 Stadium, CapMetro Rail will offer special services to transport attendees to and from the venue. However, there will be no direct train service from Leander Station to Downtown Station on July 4th. Additionally, certain bus routes near Q2 Stadium will see increased service.
CapMetro is also providing transportation options for fireworks displays in Lago Vista and Leander. The full list of service options is available on their website.
Following Independence Day, CapMetro Rail service will be suspended from July 5 through July 14 for maintenance work on the Red Line and construction at McKalla Station. During this period, Braker Lane near the CapMetro tracks will be closed from July 7 at 7 p.m. until July 12 at 7 a.m., though local business access will remain unaffected.
To assist passengers during this suspension, shuttle services from Leander, Lakeline, and Howard stations to Downtown Station will be provided. Additional bus services from other rail stations to downtown are also planned but won’t go directly to Downtown Station.
