CapMetro will implement its triannual service changes starting Sunday, August 17, 2025. The adjustments are designed to improve the riding experience and respond to how customers use the transit system.

A key change is the extension of Route 483 Night Owl Riverside to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), which will provide expanded late-night connectivity for travelers, employees, and other customers. This adjustment for Route 483 will begin on Monday, August 18.

Other updates include consolidating UT Shuttle Routes 670 Crossing Place and 671 North Riverside into a single route named 670 North Riverside. This move aims to improve frequency and efficiency. UT Shuttles will also return to typical service levels while maintaining service between the summer and fall semesters. School trips on Routes 4, 217, 315, and 333 will resume, and minor schedule adjustments across various routes are planned to enhance on-time performance and reliability.

In addition to service changes, CapMetro is updating its Code of Conduct following a comprehensive review intended to address the evolving needs of the transit system.

According to CapMetro: “CapMetro’s frontline staff may now start implementing an improved Code of Conduct, following a comprehensive review aimed at addressing the evolving needs of the transit system and promoting a safer, more respectful environment.”

The agency states: “The updated Code of Conduct takes a firmer stance on unruly and disrespectful behavior. Customers who demonstrate or engage in disruptive behavior may be suspended from the system, and may be cited if the conduct violates the law, to help ensure the safety and comfort for all riders.”

The new rules allow frontline staff to apply them more consistently. Operators can briefly pause service and contact a supervisor when it is safe if someone violates the Code of Conduct.

“CapMetro remains committed to supporting both its frontline staff, who keep our community moving and connected, and our customers who rely on safe and dependable service,” according to CapMetro.

“With this updated Code of Conduct, along with the recent expansion of the Public Safety Department, the agency is taking decisive actions to address the concerns from its staff and customers, while maintaining a safe, respectful and reliable transit experience for all,” CapMetro said.
