Austin Resource Recovery is collaborating with the University of Texas Office of Sustainability and the UT Office of the Dean of Students to host MoveOutATX from July 26 to 31. The event provides students with a sustainable way to dispose of gently used items. Students can drop off furniture, household items, small appliances, clothing, cleaning supplies, unopened food, and more at five donation stations in West Campus from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The Free Furniture Market also returns for its fourth year. Reuse organizations will transfer donated furniture pieces from the donation stations to the market at UT Austin Whitaker Courts Parking Lot. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must load and transport items themselves and sign a liability waiver. The market operates from July 26 to 31, between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., with a limit of two pieces per person.

Volunteers are needed for the Free Furniture Market and can sign up at AustinTexas.gov/MoveOutATX.

“MoveOutATX gives students an easy way to donate gently used items instead of sending them to the landfill,” said Richard McHale, director of Austin Resource Recovery. “It’s a win for zero waste and a boost for our local reuse economy.”

The donation stations will be open daily from July 26–31 between 11 a.m.–6 p.m., located at:

– Camino Flats, near 28th St.
– Escala Condos near San Gabriel St.
– Lenox Condos across San Gabriel St.
– Just south of Nueces St.
– UT Whitaker Courts Parking Lot near tennis courts

The Free Furniture Market will operate daily from July 26–31 at UT Whitaker Courts Parking Lot.

Participating organizations include Austin Area Urban League, Austin Creative Reuse, Goodwill Central Texas, Salvation Army Family Stores, UT Outpost, SAFE Alliance, Eco-Spot, IREP Junk Removal and Resale, JOSCO Products and Arms of Hope.

Austin Resource Recovery is part of the City of Austin providing essential services that protect people and the planet by managing recycling and waste disposal efforts in innovative ways.
