This May, some of Austin’s favorite Latin acts will showcase their talent and culture at a free Latinapalooza show on Sunday, May 26 from noon to 5 p.m. at Lampkin Pavilion in Rosewood Park, located at 1182 North Pleasant Valley Rd., behind the playgrounds and next to New York Ave. The show will feature emerging and long-standing performances from Bidi Bidi Banda, Llamativa, Mariachi Las Coronelas, The Tiarras, and Patricia Vonne. Full event schedule and artist details can be found online.

Latinapalooza is Austin’s premier showcase of Latin/Hispanic music that connects culture and community. This community show is a collaboration between artists sponsored by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division and the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.

Almost unconsciously, Austin’s “Eastside” is the heart center of this city. Even with updated facades and a new crop of residents its cultural origin magnetizes newcomers and tourists alike, and it is home to many who still define its history. Celebrating that history and energy are some of Austin’s most talented and beloved Latin musicians at this free outdoor family event.

Latinapalooza was founded by singer-songwriter-actress-businesswoman Patricia Vonne, and has been an official SXSW showcase for the past three years. In addition to being part of SXSW, this event is now a free showcase offered in May to celebrate Latin music and culture with an exclusively female lineup performing everything from mariachi, pop, Tejano to flamenco roots rock.

“There is a sisterhood of musicians in Austin that has put the city on an international map but also highlights Austin’s specific cultural heritage. I am more excited than ever to perform with and for family,” said Patricia Vonne.
