Austin Water has received two national awards in 2025 for its performance in regulatory compliance and sustainable water management.

The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) presented Austin Water with the 2025 Platinum Peak Performance Award. This recognition was given after the Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant maintained full compliance for five consecutive years with permits from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.

In addition, the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) granted Austin Water the Sustainable Water Utility Management Award. This award acknowledges utilities that demonstrate sustainable environmental practices and effectively manage the delivery of safe drinking water.

“We are deeply honored that the hard work and dedication of Austin Water staff is being nationally recognized by premier organizations like AMWA and NACWA,” said Shay Ralls Roalson, director of Austin Water. “This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to providing Austinites with sustainable and reliable services today, tomorrow, and for the next 100 years.”
