Austin’s job market showed significant growth in February 2025, according to a report by Opportunity Austin. The region saw approximately 67,580 available job postings, marking an increase of 7,963 from January. New job postings accounted for 42% of all listings, up by six percentage points from the previous month.
The report highlighted that “approximately 13%, or 8,700, of all available job postings during the February 2025 reporting period fell under Management Occupations.” Additionally, healthcare-related positions remained in demand with a combined total of 8,937 postings in Healthcare Practitioners and Technical and Healthcare Support categories.
Job postings offering signing bonuses rose to 2,001, an increase of 77 from January. More than half of the available jobs offered annual median wages between $25,000 and $75,000. Internships were also plentiful with about 998 positions posted by companies like Amazon and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
In terms of unemployment, the Austin MSA reported a rate of 3.1% for February. There were “13,217 more available job postings than unemployed individuals,” although this was a decrease compared to the previous month.
Several companies announced new location plans contributing to job creation in the region. These included NinjaOne with 300 jobs and Saronic USA with 150 jobs among others.
The report emphasized that job postings refer to employers actively advertising online and are not indicative of all open positions. It utilized Lightcast’s Developer tool for deduplication and detailed occupational reporting.
The top occupational groups for postings were Management, Healthcare Practitioners and Technical, and Sales. For tech occupations specifically, “93% require a bachelor’s degree or more as the typical entry-level education.”
Overall demand reflected strong needs for skills such as communication and customer service across various sectors. St. David’s Healthcare Partnership emerged as one of the top employers posting jobs during this period.
