Austin records its 56th traffic fatality of 2025 after Ed Bluestein Blvd crash

Austin police responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash early Monday morning in the 3100 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard. The incident occurred at 5:54 a.m. on July 28, 2025. Officers found an unidentified male driver who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Austin Police Department, this marks the city’s 56th fatal crash of the year, resulting in a total of 60 fatalities so far in 2025. For comparison, by this date last year there had been 46 fatal crashes and 49 deaths.

Authorities said that “these statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.”
