Austin police seek public’s help identifying suspect in downtown assault

The Austin Police Department is seeking help from the public to identify a suspect involved in an assault that took place in downtown Austin. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at approximately 1:03 a.m. on 600 E 7th Street.

According to the police, the suspect is a Hispanic male in his mid-20s with short black hair and dimples on his cheeks. He may have a tattoo on his right forearm. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black short-sleeved button-up shirt, black pants, and black shoes. Additionally, he had a pink wristband on his right wrist, which could be linked to a club or event.

The man was captured on surveillance and cell phone video during a verbal altercation where he allegedly punched a woman in the jaw, causing her to lose consciousness.

The public can submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting their website at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. Information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
