The Austin Police Department (APD) is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an assault on a CapMetro bus passenger. The incident occurred while the victim was scanning her bus pass on June 16, 2025, at around 3:00 p.m. in the 300 block of Lavaca Street.

According to APD, a Good Samaritan intervened during the assault and managed to remove the suspect from the bus. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male with tattoos on his right arm and abdomen. Authorities believe he appeared to be under the influence of narcotics prior to the attack.

APD encourages anyone with information about this case to submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
