On November 29, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., an assault occurred in the 400 block of East 6th Street in Austin’s entertainment district. According to the Austin Police Department (APD), five male suspects confronted two men wearing Texas A&M clothing after the University of Texas versus Texas A&M football game.

The altercation reportedly began when one suspect displayed a “Hook ‘Em Horns” hand gesture toward the victims. The victims responded by flipping the gesture, which is recognized as a sign of rivalry among fans. The exchange escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in injuries to both victims.

Photographs were taken of three of the five suspects involved. Descriptions provided by police are as follows:

Suspect #1 is described as a Black male in his mid-20s with short black curly hair and a small build.
Suspect #2 is described as a Black male in his mid-20s with long black hair and a small build.
Suspect #3 is described as a White male in his mid-20s with short brown curly hair and a medium build.

Due to disturbances and crowd density that night, there is no available surveillance footage of this incident. However, images captured by one victim may assist investigators.

The APD has asked for public assistance to identify those responsible. “Anyone with any information may submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest,” according to police.
