Austin police seek public help after fatal hit-and-run involving scooter

Austin Police Department (APD) detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a fatal traffic incident. The police have released photos of the suspect vehicle, hoping that someone can provide information about the driver. The incident occurred at the intersection of East 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard on October 18, 2025.

At approximately 11:34 p.m., officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on a scooter. The vehicle fled the scene after the crash. The scooter rider, identified as Khaled Saadeddine, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died on October 19, 2025.

This case marks Austin’s 78th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 82 deaths. Comparatively, by this time last year, there were 71 fatal crashes leading to 76 fatalities.

The investigation is ongoing, and APD encourages anyone with information to contact their Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
