Austin Police report fatal crash on E Ben White Boulevard; one arrest made

Austin police responded to a two-vehicle collision on September 1, 2025, at 9:46 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the 5200 block of E Ben White Boulevard. The passenger in one of the vehicles, identified as Sheyla Alejandra Mascorro, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle, Sonia Edith Ramos, age 21, was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter.

This crash marks Austin’s 71st fatal crash of 2025 and has resulted in a total of 75 fatalities this year. For comparison, by this date in 2024 there had been 59 fatal crashes with 64 deaths.

The investigation is ongoing and information about the fatality may be updated as more details become available.
