Austin Police report fatal crash at US HWY 183 and McNeil Drive

Austin Police Department officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at the intersection of N US HWY 183 SVRD SB and McNeil Drive on August 31, 2025, at approximately 12:58 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Erik Tobias Billingsley, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The motorcyclist remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with investigators.

According to the Austin Police Department, this incident marks the city’s 70th fatal crash in 2025, resulting in 74 fatalities. By comparison, on the same date in 2024 there had been 59 fatal crashes leading to 64 deaths. Authorities note that these figures are based on an initial assessment and may change as the investigation continues.
