Austin Police investigating fatal shooting on Frontier Valley Drive

On the night of September 13, 2025, Austin Police Department officers responded to a shooting at 1430 Frontier Valley Drive. Officers arrived at the scene at 10:39 p.m. and found an unresponsive male with trauma to his body. The victim was identified as Mario Palacios-Carrillo, a Hispanic male born on May 8, 1981. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:56 p.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the area and interviewed witnesses. According to police, several individuals were present in the vicinity during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities report that Palacios-Carrillo was shot by an unknown suspect who has not yet been apprehended.

Detectives are requesting assistance from the public in identifying witnesses or suspects related to this case. “Investigators believe there may be witnesses to this incident and are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to come forward so detectives can further investigate. Police confirmed that this is Austin’s 44th homicide of 2025.
