Austin police investigate wrong-way fatal crash on IH35 Northbound

On September 18, 2025, at approximately 2:16 a.m., officers from the Austin Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle collision in the 12300 block of IH35 Northbound. According to police reports, a sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided with an 18-wheeler and another sedan.

The driver of the wrong-way sedan was identified as Victor Lamar Evans II, a Black male born on September 26, 2001. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Authorities stated that this crash is being investigated as Austin’s 73rd fatal crash of 2025, resulting in a total of 76 fatalities so far this year. By comparison, on the same date in 2024, there had been 64 fatal crashes with 69 deaths.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing. “These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change,” officials said.
