Austin police investigate murder-suicide involving couple on Pennsylvania Avenue

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Austin Police Officers responded to a call at 1907 Pennsylvania Avenue around 4:11 p.m. The report came from a delivery person who found a man bleeding on the ground. Upon arrival, officers identified the man as Jon Nickowski, who had suffered trauma and was found with a firearm nearby. Inside the residence, they discovered Kimberly Sullivan, who appeared to have been shot multiple times.

Both individuals were pronounced dead at 4:29 p.m. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists investigated the scene and interviewed witnesses. The investigation concluded that Nickowski shot Sullivan before turning the gun on himself. It was revealed that they had been in a dating relationship for several years.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest. This incident marks Austin’s 35th homicide of the year.
