Austin police investigate fatal shooting on North IH-35 service road

On December 17, 2025, at 11:21 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 11900 block of North IH-35 Southbound Service Road. According to police, the call indicated that a male victim had been shot in the head and that those responsible had left the area. The victim, described as an unidentified Hispanic male, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:29 p.m.

Detectives and crime scene specialists processed evidence and interviewed witnesses. Investigators determined that Quavone Easley, a 30-year-old Black male, confronted the victim about allegedly stealing his bicycle before shooting him in the head and fleeing.

A warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Easley. He was later located and arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Police have identified this incident as Austin’s 51st homicide of 2025.
